Penguin Plume

Overview

At Plume, we are dedicated to publishing powerful nonfiction voices in the genres of pop culture, humor, and personality-based lifestyle books that both entertain and inform. Plume’s notable successes include New York Times bestsellers Trixie and Katya’s Guide to Modern Womanhood; Sona Movsesian’s The World’s Worst Assistant; Amber Share’s Subpar Parks; and Hannah Shaw’s Tiny But Mighty; as well as Lyn Slater’s How to Be Old, Elizabeth Cline’s The Conscious Closet, and Anaïs Mitchell’s Working on a Song. Plume also publishes books about activism and those that celebrate diverse cultural experiences, from Martin Duberman’s Stonewall to the plays of August Wilson, including Fences, as well as Bernice McFadden’s Sugar and Helena María Viramontes’s Under the Feet of Jesus.

Forthcoming Plume titles include second books by Amber Share and Hannah Shaw (this time with her husband, Andrew Marttila), Subpar Planet and Cats of the World, journalist Ashley Cullins’s Your Favorite Scary Movie; Spencer Henry and Madison Reyes’s Obitchuary based on the popular podcast of the same name; and TikToker Sam Kelly’s Human History on Drugs.
